Smoke, Mirrors and Journalism: Making Fluoridation ʻUnʼ-Newsworthy and the significance of Fire Water.
| Where: | 2011 Conference of the Voices from the Waters 6th International Film Festival on Water – Alliance Française de Bangalore, Bangalore, India. |
| When: | 29th August 2011, 1pm - 2pm |
Speech presented by Jaya Chela Drolma, due to illness on the part of Daniel Zalec. See video for full details.
Original Abstract: Daniel Zalec will present the case that the primary reason wide-scale mandatory fluoridation policy not only exists in Australia, but has actually been enforced with such ease, is because a tame mainstream media refuses to challenge the official line on water fluoridation. As a result, authorities have been allowed to get away with a slick public relations campaign that has seen nearly the entire nation's water dosed with untested industrial-grade fluoride chemicals. The Fire Water Project was a direct response to insufficient media action on the issue, by way of providing a vehicle for alternative viewpoints to enter the public arena on a wider scale.
